How to make a balloon arch

Building a DIY balloon arch is a fun and creative way to add a touch of magic to any celebration or event. You can easily create a beautiful arch that will be sure to impress. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to build your own DIY balloon arch.

Materials you should have:

Balloons (latex) in desired colours and sizes

Balloon pump

Scissors

Ruler or measuring tape

Step 1: Determine the Size of the Arch

Measure the area where you want to place the arch, taking into consideration the height and width of the arch. Use a ruler or measuring tape to get an accurate measurement.

Step 2: Choose the Balloons

Select the balloons you would like to use for the arch, keeping in mind the size of the balloons. Balloons come in a variety of sizes and colours, so you can easily match the theme of your event or celebration. We suggest using good quality 11" latex balloons.

Step3: Create Balloon Duplets

You can create balloon duplets by inflating two balloons to the same size, then tying them together at the neck. Repeat this process until you have created the desired number of duplets.

Step 4: Create Balloon Quads

To create the structure of the arch, you will need to make balloon quads. Now tie one duplet to another duplet to make a quad. You should now have 4 balloons tied together at the neck.  Repeat this process until you have created the desired number of quads.

Step 5: Create the Arch Frame

Start by tying the balloon quads and duplets together in a line, using string or ribbon. Once you have created a line of balloons, begin to bend it into the shape of an arch. Ensure that the balloons are evenly spaced and securely tied together. For a more rigid arch you can push each set of quads on to aluminium rod, plastic pipe or something similar.

Step 6: Decorate the Arch

To decorate the arch, you can add additional balloons in different colours and sizes. Be creative and have fun with the decoration process!

Step 7: Display the Arch

Once the arch is complete, you can display it in the desired location. You can also add lights or additional decorations to enhance the look of the arch.
